In the morning of October 31st, 2019, Simon Choi delivered a speech at the Time-Honoured Brand Chain (THBC) Summit held in Bangkok, Thailand. The day-long conference was a report of success to the stakeholders of THBC, for whom Simon serves as Chief Executive Officer of THBC.
His presentation, titled “The Renaissance of Blockchain-Enabled Cultural Heritage”, stressed the importance of THBC’s mission of bringing historical culture back into the mainstream economy. THBC is an e-commerce platform that connects crafters of historic and ‘time-honoured’ products with global Chinese consumers looking to rediscover and enjoy their heritage.
What enables THBC to do this is its integration of cutting-edge blockchain technology into its business model. This technology gives THBC the ability to move into many markets, including the tokenization economy. Simon said it was the tremendous opportunities available to THBC that led to his decision to join and lead the business. The potential for THBC is increasingly clear in light of recent developments in the Chinese blockchain space.
As Simon stressed to the crowd of several thousand, China is leading the embracement of blockchain technology. Chairman Xi Xinping issued a statement signaling China’s intention to be the global leader of utilizing blockchain technology. China, too, is now the first country to issue its own cryptocurrency – the Decentralized Currency Electronic Payment (DCEP). Simon noted China is not alone; the Bank of England soon accepting blockchain-based payments is likely after encouraging comments from its Governor. With these and more advancements unfolding rapidly, THBC is poised to become a platform for token-based capital raising, the aforementioned inbound ‘tokenization economy’.

But most importantly of all, concluded Simon, was what these advancements would result in: companies like THBC that engineer new value for consumers. THBC knows that the Chinese people are not ‘a people’ by themselves, but a people that came from fathers, grandfathers, and great grandfathers. THBC promotes historic Chinese Cultural Branding to the world, but to the contemporary Chinese citizen as well. And it is this contact with our past, says Simon, that will anchor the Chinese people as they sail into the future with stability.
